CoaguChek

With over 30 years experience in the Point of Care market place Roche Diagnostics bring a wealth of experience to INR monitoring and enjoy both a worldwide and UK market leading position. The CoaguChek brand has been available since 1994 and is now in its third generation, the CoaguChek XS, which brings significant advantages for both patients and healthcare professionals.

The CoaguChek XS and XS Plus systems set the gold standard in INR monitoring devices with a comprehensive regulatory evaluation (Centre for Evidence based Purchasing, formerly MHRA) released in June 2006 and most recently is now available on the National External Quality Assessment Scheme (NEQAS) for added confidence and reassurance.

Importantly the CoaguChek XS boasts unrivalled levels of accuracy and precision as a result of an ISI (International sensitivity index) of 1.0 (1.0 to 1.4 recommended by the British Society of Haematology) and CV (Coefficient variation) of 4.5%.

The CoaguChek XS system is primarily for patient use, either by self-testing or self-management and is a convenient portable size monitor.

The CoaguChek XS Plus is recommended for Healthcare professional use with a number of data management functions to satisfy both audit and governance issues expected by Healthcare professionals.

INRatio

The Hemosense INRatio is a new, next generation whole blood PT INR monitoring system based on a novel electrochemical sensor detection technology. The INRatio is intended for use by professional testing staff and it is also suitable for patient self-testing. The INRatio weighs only 300g, is robust and fits in to the palm of the hand which makes it highly portable and ideal for out-of-laboratory testing. The device is operated via just three keys and utilises a large, easy-to-read screen.

The easy operation of this analyser makes it suitable for professional and patient home testing. Simply apply a drop of fresh capillary whole blood to the test strip and the results are delivered within 2 minutes. The INRatio is easy to learn and easy to use. The INRatio brings laboratory quality results to the point-of-care setting. Healthcare professionals and patients alike can be assured of consistent, reliable results as a consequence of the excellent control measures inherent in the INRatio device.

  • The system is self-maintaining and requires no user maintenance at all
  • The INRatio performs self-diagnosis to detect any testing problems
  • During every test, quality is assured with on board biological controls. This is achieved with two additional tests inclusive in every test strip which are performed in parallel to the patient PT INR. This eliminates the need for additional test strip usage or separate control materials. For more information go to www.sysmex.co.uk/products/Near-patient/INRatio2.htm

Hemochron

Elitech UK Limited is the UK's exclusive dealer for the HEMOCHRONŽ "Signature" range of anticoagulation analysers. Hemochron "Signature" analysers are not patient self-testing analysers and are for healthcare professionals use only. Offering clinicians a comprehensive menu of anticoagulation parameters such as PT/INR APTT and ACT, this range of analysers can be used in many hospital and GP locations. The Hemochron range is also one of the most versatile analysers on the market with the ability to process accurately and precisely venous and capillary and both fresh and citrated samples.

Like-for-like audit is therefore possible with Hemochron via citrated sampling and the Hemochron analyser is now part of the NEQAS External Quality Assurance scheme.

Thrombi-Stat MC1WB

Hart Biologicals was formed in 2002 as a supplier of instruments and reagents for the monitoring of INR levels for warfarin control. The company has traditionally supplied healthcare professionals within the hospital outpatient clinic environment and their products are used by many of the major hospitals in London, Newcastle, Glasgow and Manchester.

To support the Government-sponsored shift of healthcare provision into the community, Hart Biologicals have developed a range of instruments and reagents suitable for the monitoring of warfarin in community-led INR test clinics. This range of products allows health care professionals to undertake INR testing and warfarin dosing control for a matter of pence per test.

Additionally, by using the HiruMed RAID anticoagulant management software, oral anticoagulant control can be automated through the interfacing of the monitor to the dosing software. The Hart Biologicals range of products is fully compatible with the national external quality control schemes run from either Sheffield or Birmingham.
